We really thought we had received all the bad news we could have...yesterday at the visit with the oncology team, we received some more bad news. There is new tumour growth in the base of the brain stem. This was a shock needless to say as we are already dealing with the tumour that could not be removed. Suggestions from the doctors were to use radiation to treat the new tumour growth...perhaps this could be for some pain relief. Ric can start on chemo when ever he is ready to do so. Initially it was to wait 6 weeks after surgery...now we have new issues to deal with. I am glad to say Ric still remains positive throughout this...he keeps reminding me we still have HOPE...I am so very proud of my husband, he has to keep reassuring me throughout this journey...I will continue to hope and ask you all to hope and pray with us through this trying time. We need your prayers now more than ever...as this journey keeps on getting more difficult to travel.
We will have home care come into our home starting next week...as Ric is somewhat weaker...they will give us advise on what we need to do around our home to make it a safe environment for Ric...and of course to help Ric in any way he may need help. Ric does use a cane for support and stability.
Ric is having a few buddies over for Superbowl this Sunday...he told me he will make the chili for the game, or at least if I end up making it, I am not allowed to use any vegetable protein in it...it has to be all beef, beans and veggies. I guess we will see what happens! I'll put my bets on Green Bay.

In my daily prayers I continue to ask for hope and strength for all of you, even more so now while dealing with this new tumour. Ric, even though you are having to go thru another stage that this cancer is carrying you thru, I am glad to hear that you are continuing to remain positive, as staying positive is what it is all about. Always remember, you may have cancer, but cancer will never have you.
Keep strong my friend.

I have never in my life met a more well-liked, well-respected individual as my friend Ric.
As I contemplate the unfair aspects of this whole ordeal, and continue to ask the big question why, I find myself confronted with a new faith in the world...in knowing that so many hearts and minds are with him on this journey...and that so many people would gladly change places with him to free him of this burden.
I have never sat down and watched a complete SuperBowl before, but I think tomorrow would be a good time to start...enjoy the game, Ric!
Warren.
I have to agree with Warren. Our thoughts are with you all.

We are sorry to hear of this latest set back. Ric is an inspiration to those who know him and care about him. Let us all join with him as we pray and hope that the miracle of God's healing hands will be upon him.
Never far from our thoughts.

I am sitting here with Sandra on a quiet night, feeling farther away than ever, wishing this horrible news would stop for you Ric, for Tracy, for the kids and your extended family and friends.
I am also so sorry that I am not there any more to hang out with you Ric, although it's great to hear that some guys are coming over today to catch the game with you. Wish I was there too.
Thnking about you guys and keeping you in my prayers
Rest up Ric, keep fighting. Your Super Bowl party sounds great, Tracy as always will have great food. I hope to stop in for a visit this week. Your strength continues to inspire and comfort all your friends.

Hi Friends and Family of Ric and Tracy,
Please forgive the upfront tone of this message, but I am hoping people can offer more than just thoughts and prayers to the family this week.
If you are in Calgary or nearby... Tracy needs practical help, as you can imagine she is dealing with a ton of stuff; meals, looking after the kids, groceries, possibly rides here and there, even helping with Ric getting from the house and to appointments. She is managing the household very well, but can only do so much.
The more time that she can spend with Ric alone, or that Ric can spend with her and the girls, is very valuable. Not worrying about groceries or this and that can go a long way.
I am sorry to write this from so far without being there to help out myself - I am living in Amsterdam at the moment - and Tracy would likely never ask for help, nor has she complained; but they need it. Real, hands-on help.
Thanks,
Jeff
Ric - you're such a positive person, always have been!!!
wish we lived closer to help out - you're both in my prayers each and every day....
You're in my thoughts every morning and my prayers every night. Attitude is so important and you have the best. Be well.

Ric, I think about and pray for you and your family always. A recent email I received from "The Secret Scrolls" contained the following message ....No matter where you are, no matter how difficult things might appear to be, you are always being moved toward magnificence. Always.
Hope you enjoyed Superbowl and your chili!

Think of you guys all the time!! You're in our thoughts and prayers. We're here for you whenever you need someone. So, if you need a babysitter in a pinch, Matthew would love some company during the day and if it was after school, the girls would love the time to play.
Stay strong and full of hope. You continue to amaze me.
Well honestly, that just sucks!
I really do wish that I was closer to lend a hand. My hopes and prayers are all I can offer right now, for all of you.

Tracy, Ric and 3 little angels,
I am hoping and praying for a good posting on the blog, this latest post just breaks my heart. I wish I was closer, but since I'm not I can only offer you my words and I want you guys to know me and Rob and pulling for you. Ric's positive outlook is so uplifting and it helps his recovery. Love you guys.
